tires so torn. 285s, 265s AT or MT

I still have not decided on tires. I love the look of the toyo MT. Super aggressive and cool sidewall tread. Trail is my daily driver, needs different tires hate the look of the stockers.

choices are:
duratracs - good all around. not sure about looks?
toyo Mt - awesome looks, heavy, maybe quiet on road?
Nitto Terra Grabblers - good on street, not sure improve look over stockers
Nitto Trails - aggressive. Maybe loud not good in rain?
Revo 2 - great on street, good offroad, not sure improve look over stockers
KM2s - aggressive, not sure about onroad dynamics.


would a leveling kit adding about 2 inchs to front be enough to fit a 285 under? if i'm stepping up to tires think 285s would be the way to go. though adds weight and may rub...

The Nitto Terra Grapplers do terribly off road, so keep that in mind. As for the KM2's they will be very loud on road, and wear fairly quickly. Those are the only two I have personal experience with!

I live in Northern BC, lots of snow and lots of Mud. IF you plan on doing a lot of off roading I would go with the duratracs. They seem to wear well and they are the pretty good in the winter (especially if you stud them). The Nitto's would not be my preference. Don't get me wrong, they look good but the on road grip was poor when the conditions got bad. For all around best performance I would have to go with the Revo 2's, I had a set on my tundra and they worked really well in the snow and the ice. A lot better then the BFG all terrain's and the Nitto Grabblers...

On factor will be how often you want to replace your tires.

They will probably wear in this order (lowest mileage first).

Nitto Trails
Toyo MT maybe KM2
DuraTracs
Nitto Terra Grapplers
Revo 2

285's look really good. I would definitely try and fit those on there.

For an all around tire I would go with the DuraTracs. I don't know if you live somewhere where it snows a lot, but the DuraTracs have impressed me in the snow. They are fine in rain as well.

I have 285 mickey thompson atz on my tacoma and love them. I think they're a great AT that's almost a MT. They're siped so they handle well in the rain weet here in fl. Meaty as hell, some say they're noisy but I don't think so. If that's a concern check out the atz plus, in person they look much beefier than in the pictures.

I have 23k on the Duratracs (E-rated) and based on tread wear, I should be good for another 23k.

I went with the Revo2s in the stock size. Even though they are the same "size" as stock, they are more substantial and fill the wheel well nicely.

This is my second set. I had them on my Titan as well. I went trailing this weekend in the Ocala National Forest Nothing too heavy...but they performed just fine. They Are also very good in the rain.

I can't comment on snow...unless we get an ice age.

I vote for the 285 Revo 2's. Love mine on my trail! Need minor adjustments to fit but they fit!

Substantial improvement in ride and look in my opinion.

Ben, Can you show us some pics? do you have a lift or leveling kit? Did you just mod the fender liners or remove the mud flaps? Would love to see. Did you do white letters out, Sometimes i think may look good with the retro feel of the truck, thinking wagoneer stylin.
