What's up everyone? I have a 2001 SR5 Sport 4runner and am thinking about doing some upgrading soon, starting with the tires. My current tires now are 265/70R/16.

I am thinking about buying the BFG A/T KO's. I would like to get a size slighty larger than what I have now but don't want the tires to rub.

I checked on tirerack.com and discounttire.com and notice they have the 265/75R/16...would these fit? Why are some tires only listed in the form of 30 or 31's 32's...

Does anyone have any pictures to post to give me an idea of what it will look like? Any info or suggestions would be super helpfull!! Thanks!

yes, those tires will fit but may rub at full turn.

and the reason the 30's and 31's are here is that those measurements are standard...in inches. the 265/75/16 is metric.
 
Definitely buy the larger tires. It should fill the whell well a lot better. The BFG's may rub more than others because of their square shape.
 
Do you plan on doing real off roading?

Is your truck a daily driver?

Also consider your year round weather when you buy your set.

BFGs are great performers off road but their on-street performance is just ok and they are pircey compared to my Nittos. I've driven plenty on both and the BFGs have a bit better durability off road but the Nittos are a better DD tire IMO and at Discount Tire they are over $150 cheaper out the door than the KOs.

BFGs still look cool but there are better options if you only off road a few times a year.
 
Hey check out my rig in the picture section, it has 265/75/17 bfg km 2's on black wheels and its silver!!! should give you a idea what you will look like.(i have no complaints) :bigok:
 
I have 265/75/R16 Yokahama Geolnder A/Ts. I have not been to fond of them on pavement. Pretty noisy. YGs have done great in the dirt. The real issue has been balancing them. The size seems to work well on the Runner without any rubing.
 
now by piaa headlights, do you mean extra aux lights, or are you going to get the h4 bulbs? big fan of my h4 headlight bulbs. give off great light and look awesome

Well you just convinced me to lean more towards the Nittos in my decision to get new tires. The tires I have are 225/75/r15, what size Nittos would you recommend? I'm new to tires and stuff so what is a reasonable size upgrade that would fit on my 15" rims?

The Terra Grappler doesn't come in a 15".

Darn. I was thinking about getting the BFG's but after hearing what some people on here have said about them in regards to being used as a daily driver and their price and everything I began to change my mind.

I'm just looking for a bigger tire than the tiny ones I have now that will give my rig a more aggressive stance. Don't intend on doing anything more than pretty light off-roading if any, so I just want a bigger more aggressive tire that will serve more aesthetic purposes as it will be used as a daily driver.

Sorry to hijack the thread but I figured there are so many tire threads out there that I shouldn't start a whole new one. Anyone have any suggestions of tires that meet what I'm looking for? Thanks.
 
I am running Cooper Discoverer STT 265/75/R16 LT on my '02 4Runner and it fits very nice. I love em, does very well on sand, snow, mud.
It's not that great on ice, but I think unless it's a studded tire, then this tire is good and has an aggressive look.
 
See if the Toyo open Country A/T comes in 15s since they are closely related to the Nittos in design and performance.

The Open Country A/T does come in a 31x10.5 r15, I was just looking through the 3rd Gen gallery and saw someone had them on their setup. And they are similar to the Nittos you say? What kind of price should I be expecting for a set of the Open Country's? When I was looking at the BFG's they came in at like ~$145 a piece, and so that is considered expensive in regards to other tires?
 
D load range Nittos in the 265/75/16 size are $138 each. x4= $552

Add in the replacement certificates which even covers off road damage and valve stems and shipped you get a $640 out the door price and I know locally the Discount stores will match their on-line price and I was quoted $750ish out the door installed which was $150 cheaper than their regular price.

BFG KOs are $177 and their road hazed certificates are even $24 dollars more than the $76 dollars that cover the Nittos.

The tires alone are at $708 and the out the door price with the same package as the Nittos it's up to $820 plus mounting and balancing.

The Nittos will save you $150 and that's alot of money that can go elsewhere.
