Tires.........

Really happy with my Cooper AT3s. I have them in 275 C rated with the TRD suspension, but I have an additional 1” lift. Mild rubbing in reverse with wheels fully turned. I think you’d be fine with 275s - and the spot I need to file down is hidden and minimal. It would take 60 seconds to do... but havent bothered to do so yet.

The tires have been great in all driving conditions so far - havent test in snow yet. They also look great - aggressive tread but not super aggressive. Just right!

Our needs are the same as yours. We went with the Falken Wildpeaks in stock, p-rated size. Look fantastic on our Inferno '15 TRD Pro, and are much quieter than the Nittos. Discount has them for ~$131/tire. Best valued tire I've ever purchased. Period. The day after we got them we drove from Houston to Aspen with a ton of off-roading in between. Grip on grip on grip in every condition.
 
I’m giving the firestone destination AT a try right now in 255/75/17. Too soon to tell, but I sure love having a silent tire on the highway again.
 
TO OP: my needs are close to yours with a little more emphasis on “off road”, currently I have Nitto TG G2 (P rated stock size)- bang for a buck it is hard to beat them- many on road and off-road trips (including Moab this year) not a single problem with those tires. I have about 45K on them now and they are still very quiet with plenty thread left (balanced and rotated every 5k).

The only things I am starting to notice is they have lost their grip in the rain… in my experience this is normal for all tires -difference is a percentage of the wet traction loss....

IMHO (and based on my personal experience): For Wet Traction loss after tires have some mileage on them (AT tires world): BFG KO line would be the worst and Micheline LTX AT2 \Bridgestone Revo would be the best- and that is one of the main reasons I may actually go for Micheline LTX AT2 when it is time to change mine- currently LTX AT2 is only $21.00 more per tire then Nitto TG G2.

Maybe I just got unlucky, but my set of 265 KO2s are impossible to balance. Balanced 2 times and still doesn't ride right.

Road noise is slightly more (but not unbearable) compared to the stock Dueler's.

I will say the vehicle road incredibly smooth when I had the Dueler's on.

On my next set, I may check out the new Michelins.

Michelin is pretty much destroying the other manufacturers in most other tires, I'd venture that they're new all terrain is probably competitive with or better than a lot of other options we've becomes accustomed to using.
 
My vote is for the Cooper AT3 4S. I have the AT3 XLT (e-rated) due to the trails here and I go solo at times. Otherwise if you're 99% hwy then P-rated is more than good enough. I came from 265 KO2 C-rated. I don't have anything bad to say about those tires, never let me down or failed once. The AT3's just ride much better.
 
I've been mostly very happy with my General Grabber at2's but a bit disappointed in their winter performance considering they are mountain-snowflake rated.

My next set of SUV tires will be Falken Wildpeak AT3W.
 
I've had Ko's on my old truck and Ko2's on the 4runner, loved them both, they are good in all conditions except for mud.

If you are going to go muddying, pick another tire.
 
Ran 285 BFG AT on FJ and now on my '12 4R.

Runs just fine in Seattle rain for commuting. I havent gotten stuck in the mud at our local ORV parks either. (Reiter, tahuya, Oly...) When it does snow here I drive around and try to help pull people out of ditches. Sucks on ice, but what doesnt?
 
I considered them all and ended up with 275 BFG KO2's. I had no rubbing on my Pro with stock suspension but the Pro does have the fender liner mod done at port. I considered all of the others and some runners up were the Cooper AT3 and the Nitto Ridge Grappler. I would have loved to run some Toyo RT's (I have them on my other vehicles in larger sizes) but they don't make them in a 255/65/75.

I don't think that you can go wrong with any of them. Best of luck with your search.
 
For 99% on road driving I'd say the cooper at3s or the new bridgestone dueler at revo 3s. They have an off road look, but they are not as aggressive as other all terrain tires, which should make them quieter and more fuel efficient. Note the should as I have not tried any of those tires.

Also the falkens in p-rated guise are very heavy, and I believe their warranty isn't as good as the coopers, although I may be wrong.

I am currently running grabber at2s, which were replaced by grabber atxs. Like them a lot, still have to test them on winter.

Agreed, Michelin is hard to beat…. (lower prices on other tire brands is one way to compete with Michelin).
I had Michelin AT on my 3rd gen… it was great… they are more expensive than most other tire brands, but you get what you pay for.

IMHO: from quietness\smoothness\balancing, on road traction (dry or wet) and thread wear they are on the top hands down, for off road traction and durability they may not be the best, but definitely above the average...
 
The Falkens are 47lbs per... Something to consider is that weight alone won't fully dictate what the driving characteristics will feel like. The rubber compound along with the tread design give them a "lighter on its feet" feel compared to the Nitto Terra Grapplers. They are quiet, smooth, and firmly planted in all sorts of inclement weather. For A/T tires, and for folks who drive primarily on pavement, they seem to hit the sweet spot. The Coopers are a little lighter and have a slightly better warranty, but weren't snowflake-rated like the Falkens. Since we spend a lot of time in the mountains in the winter this was much needed. Several people had mentioned the Coopers not doing well in icy/snowy conditions.

Lots of good info!!

I'm in the same boat......

Now the I've done a good bit of search, I'm defiantly leaning towards General A/T something....most likely ATX.
 
Falken ATWs

I got my Falkens from this October's Discount Tire eBay sale and like them overall. I've put 3K miles so far on them and had a chance to drive home during the snow we got last week. They are definitely road friendly but had more than enough traction to handle inclement weather.
 
Cooper AT3’s....30k on my 275 flavor, which they offer in a LRC, and they have handled everything that I’ve thrown at them from sand, dirt, gravel, rock, Florida wet and flooded roads after thunderstorms and East Coast blizzards driving to and from Vermont. They also have well over 1/2 there tread after 30k.

Close 2nd choice would be Falken AT3w. I actually put the 265 LRE on my trailer, and really like the look of them along with being snowflake rated.
