to paint or not to paint

My stratosphere mica sport is a pretty rare color combination (only 2 years in the sport model) and that is one of the things that i love about her appearance. that being said, I'm perplexed... I'm craving something different. the grey cladding is in really good condition, so its not a treat it and it will get darker kinda situation.

I'm going back and fourth on leave the cladding alone or, paint it a darker graphite sort of color or black.... I'm going to do some detail black or graphite details on the wheels also depending on what the master plan turns into

I need opinions, another set of eyes, or any other ideas!!

I like the idea of painting them a darker color. A graphite or black would look good. I think the shade right now makes it look cheap tbh.

I think a nice flat/satin black would be great! As with everyone else i went through the Plasti-dip phase, but its too easily removed. Whether its a rock on the road, tree branch on a trail, or some jacka$$ lookieloo that thinks its ok to pick at your wheels to see what their painted with... its just too easy to take off. My new obsession is the duplicolor bedliner, it comes in either an aerosol can or a roll on kit. Looks great, doesn't have the harsh grit of normal bedliners, and its reasonably cheap!

Just my 2 pennies worth of thought.

Has anyone considered painting the front/hood with herculiner? Would make it pretty resistant to any off-road damage.

it depends, how are you going to paint them, what paint will you be using? A lot of spray paint jobs can look cheap on such a nice looking t4r. I would consider looking into options for paint. I know black spray paint will dirty up fast on plastic and sometimes leave dirt streaks making it look dirty all the time. Just some input, I do support a darker color for the siding and fenders tho. Did they even make the siding in black? Maybe you could source some and replace yours.

Bedliner on such a nice looking t4r will once again look CHEAP IMO. If you do any paint I would stick to gloss since your runner already has a nice shine.

You might try spraying it with rustoleum undercoating. It's not as coarse as bed liner, but it gives it a nice fine textured appearance. the undercoating is pretty durable too. Not sure how it would withstand to fading though.

I sprayed my fender flares with regular spray paint and it looked good for about two days--then it faded and looked splotchy.

I just sprayed my front bumper with undercoating and it looks awesome. only time will tell how it is going to stand up to the elements but for now it looks really good.
