Not sure where you're getting this information, but it's totally wrong.

I was there wheeling for a week from July1st- 8th and thats how it was. By governor order there were NO fires allowed in CO I have a pic of the sign I think. And the firework thing is just what everyone said from Durango, Ouray, Silverton, Telluride, etc.

We had specifically planned to be sitting on a ridge above Silverton for their awesome fireworks show until it got canceled. So instead we spent the evening doing Engineer Pass over to Ouray and jumped in the hot springs for a few hours.

Yeah, early July was a different story. The counties have been lifting bans over the last 3 weeks or so. We had some pretty good fireworks display around here (I can see a few different municipalities' shows from the roof of my garage)
