To those with higher end lifts

I am thinking about upgrading my lift. I have the daystar spacer lift now and I am basically happy with it. I would like to improve the ride off road if possible but must maintain at least the same ride quality on road. I do not need ant more lift than my curent 2.5 lift. Is it worth the money for a more expensive lift? How does Old Man Emu compare to Toy tech, stock etc. I currently have the stock shocks front and rear. Any advantage to just replacing the rear shocks with something better with my current lift?

Everyone I've seen on here and toyota120 absolutely loves their Suspension lift. Especially those who opted for spacers before they went full suspension lift. Chosing how much to spend on a Suspension lift really depends on what kind of terrain you will be wheeling. Since I live in the Southeast, where we just have mud, rocks and twisty trails through the woods, I didn't need to go with any special lift. What I needed was clearance and as much articulation as I can get. I chose the OME Full 3/2 Suspension lift with 885/895 springs. LOVE it!

I see though, that you live in Arizona. There are more high-speed trails out west. If you wheel on high-speed trails you may want to consider spending the extra money on coilovers. As far as I know, the best Suspension for 4th Gen 4Runners is the Overland Warehouse 2.5 full suspension lift. there are a lot of reviews of the OME lift, OW lifts, and coilovers on toyota120.com. In fact the guys who designed the OW lift are regular members of that forum. You might take a gander over there.

All my 4 wheeling is in the desert in Arizona, Ca. and Nevada with ocassional trips through the Rocky mountains in Colorado. When I air my tires down the ride is very nice. How does your OME setup ride compared to stock? My wife has some minor back problems so any improvment will help. I would say my ride stayed about the same with the daystar spacer lift. I also do not want to give up any on road handling.

You will not regret a full suspension swap. The on road feel will be firm but not harsh and your off road capabilities will increase significantly. It is definitely worth the money.

You have a few members on here with high end suspension kits (OW, Icon, Fox and King) however, they are more active on 120. I have the Icon's myself and i am impressed with their performance. If i had to do it all over again however, i would have opted for the 2.5 OW kit since they are designed for our trucks.

There has been a few discussion regarding the differences between OME, Toytec, OW, Icon, etc over on 120. just do a search and you can find them.

My fiance is pregnant and I was a little worried about the OME medium springs I bought. at first it was a little stiff in the rear, but we are both very happy with it......she isn't into lifts.

as far as handling goes, it has improved. Keep in mind the center of gravity changes. I'm installing wheel spacers tomorrow to help offset that change.

I agree that you will not regret going for a higher end suspension from spacers. Like many I started with spacers and moved onto coilovers. I love my Fox setup, but it is pricey compared to most.

Definitely look into the OW 2.0 or 2.5 kit.

I have the OME lift and am thoroughly pleased with it. Rides a little firmer than stock, but I was not real impressed with the stock mushy ride to begin with.
No squeaks or rattles, very solid and tight.
Some of these other lifts weren't available when I put on the OME, so if I had to do it over again I would investigate these newer lifts also, but I'm sure some are a lot more money too.
I added wheel spacers and up sized the tires and the handling is superb and I couldn't be happier with it.
I had the shop that I bought it from get new Toyota top plates and put together the front springs and shocks and it was a pretty easy install even though I had never attempted an install like this before.

I have the Toytec coilovers w/ icon rear shocks, and the ride is so much better than stock. Stock was very mushy and unresponsive compared to the suspension lift.

I am very glad I waited to get the suspension lift instead of rushing into lift spacers just to improve appearance. I opted to get new wheels to widen the offset, instead of the wheel spacers..... My SR5 rides much nicer than my Limited does now.

The firm ride everyone describes is a very GOOD ride, and is by no means harsh. I imagine you will be hard pressed to find someone w/ something bad to say about a good coilover setup. I'm running E rated BFGs and still have a nice ride, contrary to some opinions I have read here (T120 guys seem to like this setup)

Thank you for the replies. I do not mind spending the money to upgrade but I do not want to waste it. I hate it when I spend a lot of money on something and then find out I was better off leaving it alone.
