TOB chirp after replacing clutch/pressure plate/TOB/flywheel

I'm getting a chirp from my TOB while in neutral without any pressure on the clutch pedal. As soon as I just barely (and I mean very little pressure or movement) press the pedal, it goes away. After searching, it looks like its the TOB.

Problem is, I just had a local shop replace the clutch, pressure plate, TOB, and flywheel not even two months ago. Less than 1000 miles. I forked out a lot of money, and I'm really frustrated to have transmission problems. Could it have been a problem with the install that I could take up with them? Or is it likely a bad part (TOB), in which case I'll have to contact Exedy which I'm sure won't do anything to help me.

I'd like to add, other people have had success getting this chirp to go away by putting a return spring on the clutch fork to pull it back towards the slave cylinder and getting pressure of the TOB. If I have to do this mod, then so be it, but I shouldn't HAVE to since it never had one before. Could the mechanic have not properly aligned the clutch fork on the TOB?

Also to add. Shifting into second *sometimes* feels a little rough (no noise or grinding, just doesn't feel as smooth going in). Sometimes when down shifting from 5th to 4th, it won't let me go into 4th gear (like it's walled off) for a second or two. Has never done that before. Sick and tired of trans issues after putting out $1k for new parts and labor.

I went out under it this morning and messed around with the clutch fork. Sure enough, if I push the clutch fork towards the slave cylinder while it is chirping, it goes away instantly. When I let go, it moves back but doesn't quite put enough pressure to chirp. Pushing and releasing the clutch pedal will start the chirping again.

When it's chirping, I can feel pretty heavy vibrations when I'm touching the clutch fork. Not sure if this is normal or not as I have no other manual vehicle to compare it to, but you can't feel them through the pedal. Also, if I push the clutch fork back towards the slave cylinder, releasing any pressure off the TOB, it becomes very loose. It has freeplay up, down, and side to side. Almost feels like I can pull it loose. Is this all normal? In which case I just need to lube up the clutch fork?

Ignore the 2nd/4th gear stuff. That's another issue from previous trans problems.

Took a peek through the clutch fork boot and snapped a pic. I have NO idea what that metal piece is. I looked up all the pictures I can find of the clutch fork/internal bellhousing for 3rd gen runners, and none of them have that.

I have had TOB chirp since i replaced my clutch, I just haven't done anything about it, and I cant take it back to anyone because I'm the one who put it in.

This is my experience replacing lots of clutches on other vehicles. Aftermarket TOB tend to chirp. Usually they are prepacked with grease but i would also pack it some more. OEM TOB way less chance of chirping.

The chirp if from when clutch is released and bearing is spinning. The sound is very annoying but should not cause an issue mechanically. That thing can be super loud but do it's job fine.

If you bring it to him have OEM bearing installed. If it is OEM than you just got a bad bearing but they are hit and miss sometimes.
