Guys,
My navigation stopped working and I thought I might have to change the whole system to install a new after market in dash system.

While investigation the problem, I found out that the back is kinda bigger and later found out that the battery has given up. I had the something happened to my Macbook pro Battery. It turns on when I connect to my computer but can't charge from the car.

Any suggestion on what should I DO?

Check the pics.

Google the model number and see if you can get a replacement battery. Otherwise crack the case and see if there is identifying information on the battery itself--you might be able to find a suitable replacement.

I have a garmin unit a few years old (not an in-dash model) that stopped working. It was the battery and it turns out it is a common enough problem that several aftermarket vendors make a direct replacement. Worth a shot--I think my battery replacement cost was around $14.

Good luck

Call tom tom with the serial number and tell them the battery burned out and almost burned down your car with it. Then try Toyota customer service. One of them might replace it for free.

I have taken mine apart looking for battery info. No direct part # was on it if I remember right. Just a few numbers I Googled without too much success. You can find these units though may have to get in touch with tom tom or Fujitsu ten..if its going to cost money I would upgrade to a better headunit personally..

I agree. Someone stole the removable part out of my truck. Deductable was $500 and just the removable part was $600+. I replaced the whole unit with a Z120 and couldn't be hapier. The Dum Dum unit sucked!
