TomTom 510 at Circuit City

I was interested in getting a GPS unit myself, have you had one before, or have anything that you have compared th tomtom against? I am looking at that one, one similar that is made by Garmin, and then also the idea of just an in dash nav. Is there anything about the TomTom you dislike?

I had the tomtom700 for a month but returned it to purchase the 510. The 510 was $150 cheaper. Both have basically the same set up as far as menus and maps go. The only difference is the screen size and ipod controls. The only complaint i have with the 510 is the sound seems to be scratchier and not as clear. I havent had any experience with other brands but there are reviews on this board and on gps forums.

Ipod controls? I have not heard about that. Does that mean the tomtom wires into your head unit?

the tomtom can control the ipod if you plug it into it. it can also serve as a speaker for the ipod. if you hardwire your tomtom to your car then it can play sound through car speakers.
