Can somebody please tell me what the tongue weight is for the receiver/hitch. I just got a 04 LTD and I need to haul a 460 lb motorcycle. I was looking into getting a Versahaul, it's similar to a bicycle carrier which is mounted at the rear. Versahaul claims it can hold up to 500 lbs. I'm just concerned about causing any damage to my suspension and hitch. If it does not work out I could just rent a trailer from Uhaul. Has anybody have any experience with this. Thanks in advance.

The standard small rear crossmember mounted reciever for the 4runner is a class 3 hitch. 500 lb tongue weight (max).
If you have a class 3 weight distributing hitch (side frame mounted) tongue weight can be up to 1000 lbs.

I think that's pushing it
Mine is the small one so I know all it can "technically"safely handle is 500lbs.
Actually, even the side frame mounted hitches may be limited to 500 lbs. I just looked at this site :

and the discriptions they give for weight distributing hitches are for a special type of spring bar that transfers the weight of a TOWED load to the axles of the trailer and tow vehicle, allowing the vehicle to pull more weight.
So even when a hitch is a side frame mounted type, it's still limited to class 3, with 500 lbs max tongue weight. But it can pull more.
Looks like your bike needs to go on a diet. Wonder if you drain the tank it would be lighter. Fill it up with a can when you get to the destination?
