Tools: Kmart vs Sears for the same item?

I was wondering if Kmart is carrying more Sears stuff lately. Since Kmart bought Sears, I have seen some limited amounts of items like Craftsman tools there. I am wondering if for example: a Craftsman tool at Kmart would be cheaper than buying the same item at Sears? If so, than this is good info

I hope Craftsman tools does not get watered down now with Kmart. Especially the lifetime warranty.

I'd go flea market before Kmart.

Sears' Craftsman has always been good. While some will bicker over it and prefer Snap On or Mac, Craftsman won't cost you an arm or a leg like Snap On either. If it ever breaks...and I can't remember the last time a Crafstman did that was not the result of over use or abuse, just go to Sears and they will take care of it.

Just take a look at Kmart products. They are worse than anything Walmart sells. Kmart buys the worse kinda crap from China and just throws it on the shelf. The workmanship on their tools is just crap. No sense of quality control. I used to wrok at Kamrt and saw teh rate of returns for every--generators, TVs, chain saws, tools....and I wonder how the heck they do that.....then it's obvious. They jsut sign a huge contract for some two bit manufactuere in China for prices so cheap that they can absorb a high rate of defects and still make a profit.

Kmart is just another outlet for Sears to sell their products in, the tools will not become watered down with less quality, they should have the same quarantee but depending on store location they might run different sales.

If your worried about quality tools start reading up on snap-on, if they keep up with their current pace snap-on could eventually be gone.

I've met tons of old timers who where Snap-on freaks, look into their so called life time guarantee and you will realize it's not true, try and return a Snap-on tool 20 years later when it breaks they will tell you sorry we can't do that, all those Snap-on guys are now Craftman guys, why cause you walk into Sear or now Kmart and they see the name and tell you go find what you need even 20 years later

Craftsman tools are awesome. With sales you can find tools half or even a third of what Snap-on charges.

And I have never been given so much as a second look when returning tools, they just say go get a new one. It was awesome when I had a landscaping business, I would ruin rakes every year and then just go get new ones. You just can't beat their quality, price, warranty and convenience.

I was in Sears once and a Landscaping truck pulls up and they had like 40 rakes and they got all new ones and left, sweet

Oh man if Craftsman goes to Kmart I'm really going to hate it. I am hook on Craftsman, even have the craftsman club. So far I've busted a few ratchets due to using them as a hammer , I had no problems returning them for new ones. With the exceptions of a few misc. Harbor Freight tools most of my stuff is Craftsman.

The best story though has to be when I purchased a 1000 piece tool set for $76. Turns out every year Sears, does inventory and they find misc. items that they practically give away, ofcourse this isn't advertised and its first come first serve. I've been going to that Sears ever since, trying to find a similar deal.

Craftsman is going to Kmart, as time goes by Kmart is going to offer more Sears Brand stuff, they merged but you will always be able to find Craftsman at Sears.

Like someone mentioned Kmart was selling cheap crap, Sears is gonna help turn them around, I think eventually Kmart may be dropped in favor of the Sears name but Im not certain:

here's the nightmare...

1) Sears has a great product: Craftsman.

2) Kmart is known for selling the cheapest garbage known to man.

3) Kmart buys Sears,

4) Kmart outsources tool suppliers from the cheapest pig iron plants in Pakistan that makes "Made in China" look like gold plated Snap Ons.......

5) sells it under Craftsman name......

2) So if the tool get cheaper cause Craftsman outsources the tools to China who cares, properly use tools and they don't break but if they do at least they will exchange them for you, try that with Snap-on, their is a reason their stock went from 33 to 3 dollars:

I've seen it, noticed it when I went for my monthly Craftsman club shopping trip( yes I know I'm a geek:nerd: ) that they had reduced the amount of stuff they had for sale under the craftsman club.
