I did the blue/grey wire mod a year or two ago and really haven't had a good chance to indulge in it until this week. We've been going to a place called lake Mcconaughy annually for about 17 years. I've owned 4Runners for about 5yrs. I assume some of you CO folks know of the place. Terrain is fine, soft, sometimes very deep sand. Sometimes some serious mud but usually avoidable. I've driven the trucks in various modes, 4lo w/locker, 4lo, 4lo center diff-lock and just straight 4hi. Being able to use 4hi w/locker was absolutely amazing. The truck was like driving an ATV. It managed the deep sand like I've never seen. Very impressed.
Since I listed the thread as top 3 mods. My favorite mods in descending order.
-blue/grey wire mod
-TBU
-supercharger
-HID retrofits

I guess I put 4 items on there. Should have previewed. I was thinking easiest/cheapest/practical on down. Lists are always very subjective. I more so wanted to justify the greatness of the wire mod. Being able to drive different trucks in various states of modifications and combinations might change opinions as well. Having the SC with the 4hi/locker probably helped my excitement. I do know the first thing I always do is the TBU on any 4Runner. The wire mod isn't applicable on all of them but it doesn't cost anything.

Well every upgrade is a modification. But I can see your point. Mods tend to be fairly inexpensive while upgrades can be really expensive.

Since I'm broke at the moment my favorite "mod" was putting on the 3" toytec lift.
Second was removing the factory running boards. So far the wife hasn't said anything about them not being there.
Planning on some plasti dip on the bumpers and rocker panels soon.
 
Aux transmission cooler and TBU are my top two... Supercharger would probably be the 3rd but who knows when I'll have the funds or the courage to dip into that one...

Come on guys, your hurting my feelings. How are cup holders not on the list? Ok, ok, maybe a super charger is cooler than a cup holder.

Nah man, cup holders are mandatory with a super charger. If you don't install them at the same time you and your passengers will be wearing a lot of coffee. lol

Mine would be

- 99+ center console
- Leather power seats
- LCE Short Throw Shift Kit

Not necessarily in that order.

Mine isn't a rescue, but I'm of the mind that there are no bad dogs, only bad owners. I just linked the adoptable puppies page for UNNER's benefit (were he so inclined) because there were some good potential traveling buddies listed there local to him. I would definitely recommend a golden retriever though to anyone considering a dog; best dog I've ever had by a country mile.
 
My top 3 would be:

-Supercharger (who doesn't like going fast?)
-LED Light Bar (our headlights are terrible...)
-Sound deadening

I'm gonna look into the LC rear shocks. Never thought about that. My Bilsteins are getting tired (or I'm getting old and grumpy). Starting to feel like I have blocks of wood in there in daily driving.
