It's crazy what it costs to own these things cost to own. Assuming I low-ball my 4Runner and say it's worth $25,000 after 5-years. I'm still only looking at $400/month to drive a $50,000 truck (in terms of depreciation). I don't know if you can lease a mid-level Rav4 or higher end Camry for that, lol. I think a lease on a new 4Runner at the time was pushing $650+/month.

Darn, I knew I should have gotten a Wrangler... just kidding. So when I was looking for this car back in November the only real contender I found was a 2014 used with 45,000 miles on it. it was $33,000.00 now sure I could have maybe negotiated it down, but the point is I just went and bought a new 2017 sticker was $38,768 I got it for $36,169.00 maybe I could have gotten the'14 for 31k still only a 5,000 depreciation over three years and 45,000 miles, crazy

Always nice to have a vehicle that will reward you for keeping it over the long haul. You know that you will have a market for the 4Runner once you are ready to move on. I plan on keeping mine for a while though so I have no plans of acting on this benefit any time soon haha...

I sold my 95.5 Taco with 250k for $8k last year. I paid $11.5 for it in 2001 with 50k. How does that make sense?

So I bought a new Taco for my wife last year for about $3k more than used ones with 50k. Crazy.

I traded in my Tacoma when I bought my 4Runner. They gave me $23K for a 2013 TRD OffRoad with 46K miles, which was only about 6K less than I paid for it 5 years ago.

Kinda kicking myself for not having the patience to do a private sale.

Except in states that charge you 7% AVT on car purchases. It's charged on "net" so if you sell on your own, you need to get 7% more to break even.
