Top Gear Camera Car

Let's say you feel like crossing the Syrian desert and 1200 miles of the middle east... what would you do it in?

For those of you who love Top Gear, They use Range Rovers for most of their on road stuff.

Well, I am watching the new Middle East special. Couldn't help but notice their choice in camera car.

Looks like a 99-00 Limited.

I always avidly watch for things like that, in Asia and Africa they used Sequoias but I've never seen a 4Runner.

yeah that cameraman would have to be pretty talented to drive while shooting out the window...'cause if that was a Surf, he'd have a big steering wheel in his way

Here is the camera car that they use for the the US show. It is a Porsche Cayenne Turbo with a servo driven arm and gyro stabilized head. My friends in LA.

Just curious, whats worth more the Cayenne Turbo or the video equipment on top of the already ridiculously expensive SUV?

British Top Gear is the only Top Gear worthy of the name.

I like the US one, but it's not as good as the British version yet.

That Cayenne is pretty sick.

You've also got to remember that on track, they definitely have a crazy camera car like that Cayenne, but this 4Runner was following them through the desert of Syria and through the middle east.

What i dont get is everyone hates American top gear, and yes they are right that its not nearly as good as british top gear, but you are basically pushing away one of the only attempts at a decent car show for television, i dont know about the rest of you but i am fine with whoever wants to make a Car show instead of this stupid reality, murder, and all that other garbage that fills the TV channels.

Have you ever seen the tv show Chasing Cars, and Chasing Classic Cars with Wayne Carini? It's on the HD Discovery Theater Channel. This guy buys up cars that haven't been kept in good condition, mostly classic exotic cars (Ferreri's are his speciality) and restores them. It's really good. Almost as good as the BBC's Top Gear. Way better than the American Top Gear, that's for sure.
