Top Gear Hilux video

There's an interesting show on the Discovery Channel, called Top Gear, which is from the BBC. The show is a real hoot. They do things with cars that are, well... outside the norm. This past week, they took an old Hilux pickup they got from a farmyard and tried to kill it. They did everything they could to it, like dropping it from a crane, hitting it with a wrecking ball, tying it to a pier at a beach and letting the tide submerge it, and setting it on fire. And they couldn't kill it. The body was a mess, of course, and they had to flush seawater out of the cylinders. But the drive train and suspension actually came through pretty well, and after all this punishment, the thing still ran. Now, I wouldn't want to do this to my '04 4R LTD, but it's nice to know that this kind of durability is in my truck's lineage.

i saw the episode, youll be surprised how they treat that hilux, they did nothing but try to destroy until it stops running. they even drown it on sea (unexpected), the cable/strap holding the hilux in place came loose. they even burned it.

make long story short, it just keeps going. and going.

Hmmm. I just tried it, and it worked. I clicked on the Broadband link, under the picture of the red Hilux truck in the middle of the page, called "Toyota Hilux Video". It's a .RAM file, so you have to play it on Real Player, I believe.

I just saw this episode last night when my DVR caught it on. Simply amazing. If you get Top Gear, you have to check it out. They do things on that show we'd never see on an American show.
