Torqit Pedal Torq Module - Solution for 5th Gen Throttle Lag and Choppyness?

The throttle response is like this in many of the luxury sports sedans I have driven. Quick heavy inputs, especially from a standstill, are delayed. I think it's because they don't want ppl accidentally jamming the throttle and shooting off into something unintentionally. Annoying.....yes and you can thank those types of people who make mistakes and then sue manufacturers for things like "unintentional acceleration".

As I mentioned before I didn't really notice a lag, then thought as also mentioned that not all of these rigs are the same absolutely, but probably more the perception is not all the same absolutely. In any case I tried something different. I live in a smallish town and don't get a chance to go fast unless I drive out of town on some country highway so I'm always in sport mode which means I'm never in 5th gear unless I put it there. Today I went out doing some driving errands and left it in full auto mode. I think I perceived a little of the hesitation mentioned. Was pretty slight and certainly not an issue , but something was there. I then later shifted back into my usual sport mode and no hesitation at all. Not even a tad little bit. I don't typically shift into 5th unless I'm going over 50 or more. So maybe the reason I couldn't relate to everyone's complaint. Don't know how many drive around in sport mode all the time, but I don't see a need for 5th gear if I'm going 35mph.
So,
Either our rigs are not all created completely equal or the perception we each have of the issue is not equal or a bit of both. Anyway, my .02 on this.

Given both it learning you and you learning it (And it's not easy to distinguish the dividing line between the two) I'd say that within a month or two I was driving without thinking about it.

Yeah it tries to keep it well below 2k at all times, though ususally like 15k to 2k in my case.

Ok I will give it some more time to learn me and me learn it. Is it normal though to stay at 1100 rpms when crusing at 40mph? I can tell that it's in 5th gear but the rpms feel too low, especially when you try to punch it to catch a light or pass someone.

Some things the ECU will learn, but throttle response variations will not be learned by the ECU no matter how long and how hard you mash the skinny pedal.
Here is part of the conversations from the other link where the same thing was discussed. Just thought I would share:

There is a rumor that it learns your preferences if you mash the throttle all the time, but I'm pretty convinced that is BS.

Yeah, me too. But I'd like to hear from someone who actually knows.

It does not. The AT will "learn" your driving which can slightly alter the abruptness and timing of shifts, but the throttle is purely position based.

So, in light of (yet) another non-related issue with my radio, I disconnected my battery for about 2 hours on Thursday morning, reconnected it and drove the vehicle. I've been driving it a lot more aggressively since then, and that lag is really not noticeable any more. If I go back to driving like grandpa, I notice it right away, but its not nearly as delayed as it was.

I've pulled the Torq-it out and boxed it up already, as its actually more annoying to have, especially when driving it aggressively (red light is impossible to get it to stop downshifting!), that'll be shipped back to the store.

Rather than type up what's already known, I'll just say this about the unit. All it does, is it makes the pedal more "reactive" by shortening its "throw". You reach full throttle about an inch from the floor sooner while in "red light" mode, and about ¾" sooner in "green light" mode. The numbers from my Torque app prove just that. I can hold the pedal in any position besides full throttle and no throttle, and while flipping through the modes, watch the data change.

Overall, its an interesting unit, but definitely not worth the $285 bucks for it.

Just wanted to add to this, the company did a full return on the unit, I just have to pay for shipping back to them. They were beyond courteous and extremely straightforward with their info!

The gentleman did state that it basically re-maps the curve of the throttle, and a couple of interesting notes here, one being that when it re-maps the throttle in the "red" setting, the electronic shift solenoid IN THE THROTTLE BODY for the transmission is probably seeing too much input which is why it is constantly downshifting. Makes sense, seeing that the trans is connected to the tps and adjusts its shift by what it is being sent from the tps.

Sure wish it did work, but he confirmed that it does not take care of the delay in throttle, it just re-maps the curve of the throttle pedal!
