Torque Pro Tranny temp Method 1 Method 2 / Level Check

Torque Pro is allowing me to see the ATF temp in what it calls method 2. Method 1 does not seem to be available.

Is method two the pan temperature or otherwise fine for checking the fluid level of a sealed transmission?

Thanks!

Yes my theory is that is the pan temp. I have a 5th gen with Torque Pro and the ECU provides pan and torque converter temps. I confirmed this by shifting manually and I can make the converter temps go up quickly, where the pan is a lot slower to rise in temps.

I did the same thing in my 4th gen and the temps raised slowly leading me to believe this a pan sensor that we are seeing.

I think you would be fine to check fluid level with this reading. I did it on my 5th gen and it worked well.

It would be a lot of hassle, but I guess you could confirm it by doing the jumper wire technique and the ECU diagnostic mode, wait for it to get up to temp, and then plug in your Torque Pro and confirm the temp with what the ECU diagnostic was reporting. MY 4th is an 03' with a dipstick so I've only done the Torque Pro method on my 5th gen.
