Torque Spec on Non-Elocker 3rd

I just got done installing my LockRight which required the removal of the 3rd member blah blah. Long story short I looked on the "Torque Specs" thread and it is listed as 54ft-lbs. I thought it was a bit high so I checked on my copy of the FSM and it said the same. So I crank up the torque wrench (which is accurate) and shear the stud in half. I ended up doing them at about 20 ft-lbs which is where I felt was safe.

Those of you who have done this what torque did you go to? I've seen some who make it seem like they went all the way to 54 but I can't imagine the studs would take that.

There was a discussion about this a while back on here. I think the FSM lists two different torque specs. Can't remember if it was between the locked and unlocked diff's or what. I think the correct torque is around 37lbs. It was the consensus that the 54 was a misprint.
 
The FSM lists the elocked 3rd as 19 I think and the unlocked as 54. I would agree it is a misprint haha.
 
I sheared one of the studs on a non-elocker 3rd just yesterday and I had the torque wrench set at 36 ft-lbs.

I ended up getting all the others torqued to 36 as the one I sheared was the last one. But because it was I had to remove them all again and put in a new stud :redbrick: I redid them all at 25.

I would say that when the FSM says the elocker 3rd is 19, it really means both.
 
I used a lubelocker gasket when I swapped out my 3rd, i followed the torque specs/instructions/sequence on the package.

1st round was 7lbs, 2nd round was 18lbs. 600 miles later still good.
