Hi,
When the term "fiberglass" is used in the context of a Long Travel upgrade, is this shorthand for extended width fenders so the installation will comply with either race rules and or vehicle laws?

It allows the tires to fit up and into the wheel well better without having to chop your existing ones. Yes according to the law at least in PA where I am you have to have your fenders covering your tire completely.

Ive had my kit on for over 11k miles now and I have no complaints.

I am having trouble imagining how you can get more clearance without chopping the existing ones.

Is it a case where you actually remove and replace the panels rather than chopping the existing panels and bolting on new flares?

When speaking of Fiberglass fenders you take the whole stock metal panel off and replace it with a new fiberglass one like I did from McQueen and bolt it up. The flare allows the wheel to travel up into the fender more where the stock one would have hit. Or like you said you can chop the stock fenders. Im running 35s. I have a friend who runs 33s and doesn't need fiberglass fenders for his truck with the same setup.

I currently have extended travel in the rear. Im going to move up to a Long Travel 3.0 shock in the rear when I get a chance. It requires new links, pan bar, extended brake lines, new longer shocks and maybe a limit strap.

Awesome. Whatcha gonna do with it? Restore or preserve?

Also, are those actual asbestos heat shields on the front shocks by the headers?

Preserve it and hopefully put it in a museum!
