Total Chaos suspension UPGRADE!

Thanks for answering my question! I may have to test it out before I build a full bumper. I don't tow or do anything too stressful on the engine that I should need to worry about getting too hot. Probably the cleanest build I've seen forsure!!

The install looks killer man. I have been dreaming of a set up like that under my 4runner for a long while.

I looked through your secondary shock hoop install as that is what I had been planning for my 4runner with stock length arms.

Question for you, I know that TC offers a stock length arm and LT arm hoop secondary shock kit.

Which one did you go with when you had your stock arms? Did you just reuse that one when you swapped to the long travel? Curious as I am unsure of the final outcome of my 4runner but I have been looking at the secondary kit for now and don't want to have to redo if at all possible.

Also, is there any reason you swapped out your 8" King secondary for the fox package? You had mentioned in the other thread about how you went with the 8" with stock arms so you could reuse it if you ever went LT. Did you just want to keep it all the same mfg?

Can't wait to see what you come up with for the rear as I have been looking at future options for better shock placement and travel numbers for mine as well.

Wow that's just insane!! Absolutely in love with it all around. ....I know you want to swap to leafs, but what are you running in the back right now? Looking for options for my rear right now, I'll be doing an Icon Stg5 kit and want a rear spring that can take some punishment in the washes in SoCal/Baja.

How hard was it to modify the tacoma glass? Probably gonna pick up a set in a few days and need to know what to do. I know i need new corner lights.

I just realized that you changed all your suspension over to Fox, care to elaborate on why? Were you not happy with the King's or did you just want a change?

Sort of lost track of this thread!

The only difference between the stock and LT hoop kit is the stock kit includes a shock mount for the lower arm. You can re-use the stock arm hoop kit (I did).

I just switched to FOX so everything matched. I like both shocks, each serve the purpose. But I have a lot of fox shims and the kings shims are expensive. So it was just easier to have fox, when it comes to re-valving them.

Haven't finished the back yet. I'm planning on outboard removable shock hoops and custom length fox shocks. I've already got some of the frame plating done, and the shocks have been cut down. I'm running a 10" 2.5 fox and the body has been cut down .750 to make it a little shorter collapsed.

You don't need new marker lights if your going to form the opening. You do need them if you don't want to cut the opening on the fender. The primary issue is the Tacoma glass sits about .500 low to the hood so you have to build it up quite a bit. I just made my marker light work considering I was customizing the fender anyway.

I wouldn't say it was hard, but it was time consuming. You can buy 2 part expanding foam that dries hard as a rock. Once you've got the fender built up with foam you can start shaving it with 80 grit sand paper. It goes pretty quick. Then lay up a couple plys of glass and start sanding. Here are some pictures of the foam and after paint. Once you lay the glass you'll finalize the shape.

It seems to be okay. Just make sure you don't re-use your old radiator cap. They are different!! I re-used my old cap and it blew all the water out and got hot. Since I've installed the correct cap, it's been fine. 80 on the freeway AC cranked in 105 degrees. I also don't pull anything with my 4Runner, so I don't know how it would perform towing.

Which radiator cap did you used?

I bought a radiator cap to match the radiator. In my case, I used the 2WD 4 cylinder radiator, so I bought a cap for a 2000 2WD 4 Cylinder Tacoma. You can easily compare them. The 4 cylinder cap is a little deeper than the factory 3.4 cap.
