I have been running Total Chaos Upper Control Arms for quite a while now and I was considering changing out the ball joint and bushings. I dont have any symptoms that suggest a replacement but its more of a mileage / age thing. I have likely 80k + on them and wondered what to look for and what to expect before a rebuild....

Sure signs the uniball is in need of a replacement are noise, play in the uniball, pitting or discoloration on the uniball.

ICON Now offers a Delta Joint conversion for non-ICON arms if you are interested.

When the uniball is ready for replacement, you will typically hear some noise in the form of a clunk or creak/squeak. We have some customers with 30k of hard use and some with 100k and minimal maintenance. Keeping the uniball clean and free of debris will greatly increase the lifetime. Could you post a couple photos of your setup? We are happy to take a peak and see if we notice anything unusual.

Examine the bushings for any cracks or tears. Proper lubrication goes a long way for keeping these bushings healthy.
Often times the bushings are "bad" due to improper greasing. (see video)
