Totaled Runner

OK, so the other guy's insurance company tried to tell me that they're only accepting 50% liability. My Runner is totaled, with $8000 damage, and the other driver made an unprotected left turn into me. So my question is: is there anyone near Casper WY who maybe wants to make a little $ and help me strip her and part her out? I'd be willing to negotiate price, and the rig is a '97 automatic with a rear E locker and brand new Bilstein shocks & springs. Can you help me out?

Call your state insurance commissioner, if the other guy was cited, the commissioner will shove it up the other insurances backside.

Dude, that sucks…..sorry. Glad you are okay though. If I was closer I would bring my impact wrench and a 6 pack and help you for free.

Its the other insurance companies job to screw you, don't take the settlement! I would refuse and ask for mediation. You could also put a claim in with your insurance and they will go after the other insurance company. Again dont settle especially if you did nothing wrong

Do Not Settle! Speak with the other insurance company AND get your insurance company to speak to them as well - make your company work for you. You are paying them. Speak with multiple people from your insurance company and theirs.

Insurance companies pay people to give you as little money as possible. Gather your info, get the police report make copies of everything - be polite but be firm and keep pushing your point.

just sayin

Totally agree, don't accept the settlement! Get your insurance involved. AND Start gathering receipts for all the aftermarket extras on your rig, including things like tires if they're fairly new. When my jeep got totaled it was 100% on the other driver but with a recon title their payout was a joke. 2 months, dozens of receipts and countless e mails later my payout doubled.

Dudette, thank you…lol. I'm glad I'm ok too. Sucks that my baby is broken, but I went to the body shop and stripped everything I could…..so far. 50% liability means they get 50% of my truck….:D

what parts were you able to get so far?

Just headrests, storage cover from the cargo area, floor mats and heavier duty aftermarket mats, lighter port and lighter, cargo area mat, cargo cover. I also have brand new wet okole front seat covers

that sucks. My 4runner was rear ended and insurance gave me $5000, and after i took it to the shop to fix, it wasnt enough and i got another $2000. But now shes all fixed up and good as new

They're quoting 4 hours minimum on the rack to straighten the frame alone…this is an excuse to make ol' blue jealous…and anytime that happens, I'm a happy girlie (@Downpour ;))

i can't help with the strip but i can help with a buy, lol

id def be interested in any suspension parts you have. my shocks are loosing gas or w.e. so i got a lil' cholo lean in my swag

Sucks. Is it safe to assume you were only carrying liability which is why 50% fault = 50% payout? :( I agree with others, fight for more but it's an uphill battle.

At the end of all of it, the truck can be replaced, you can't. The fact that you're safe is really the only important one.

If you do part it, I'd be happy to buy the Bilsteins assuming they weren't bent in the accident.

Seat Covers

First, glad to hear you weren't hurt.
Second, some insurance companies are scum.

Are you going to sell the seat covers? What color are they?

To the OP,
As was said above, why not get your insurance involved? I'm not understanding this if the other guy is 100% at fault.

You don't have to settle!! Continue to push the issue with your insurance company...it's what you pay them to do...it's time for them to earn the money you pay them every month!!! Glad you're okay!!!
