Tow hitch cable/wires

I just bought this 4runner and noticed the tow hitch cable looked really rough. The cable goes to two different groups of wires. I traced the group of wires underneath the car to the engine bay where they were cut. I didn't try tracing the second group.

I'd like to tow in the near future so any suggestions would be appreciated. Im wondering if I need a new plug or if I should be concerned about the cut wires.

That was an aftermarket install, and they most likely had a trailer brake controller installed that was then removed in the sloppiest was possible.

Do you *NEED* a 7-pin for brake controller and 12v charging? If not, then you can either test what you have to see if it works (I'd rather you search this than tell you, or rather I'd rather you know you Can search this and Chose to search), or rip it all out and start again with a flat-4 (if that's what you need).

If this is all above you, pay someone else to sort it out for you.

Unless you need the brake controller, just get a new plug-n-play 4-flat harness from etrailer.com.

Remove all the old crap.
