Tow Hitch Cover

Just wanted to see what everyone else has on their tow hitch's as a cover. I used to have a prop but it broke so I am using the Toyota cover that came with the truck but would like something else just wanted to see what everyone else is using.

I currently have an extra brake light in there and I have already ordered a Warn Shackle Receiver. There is more details in the thread linked in my sig. I will post more as soon as I get the shackle receiver. It can be used as a recovery point, which 4route said it works great for. That way all you 4WDs can pull my ass out when I get stuck! :help:

Cool, I like the idea of the warn receiver shackle, i saw one at cabela's for $39.99, is that a avg. price? How much did you get yours for?

I thought about that also...you don't find that to be too bulky on the back? I just thought it was too much sticking out

I like the Rhino hitch step also but does it get in the way when walking behind the car to open the gate? I'm just afraid someone who's not paying attention may clip their knee or leg on it. What do you think???

I thought it would be bulky but I wanted the protection when I park in NYC. When I installed it, it wasn't that bad.

It's actually very helpful when I went snowboarding. It doesn't get in the way at all. You can sit on it to put your boots on. I bought a Master Lock hitch lock at AutoZone for $15 so I wouldn't have to worry about someone stealing it.

Definitely worth it. I got mine at Sporty's for $69 shipped.

4route has a zip tye on hers.....so I'm guessing it could be to prevent that.....maybe.

The slide in hitch and ball stays in my receiver.....I am towing something most every weekend and don't want to mess with taking it in and out. Plus, it is the best place to store it.

Me too.

The zip tie is more likely to prevent the shackle bolt from coming unscrewed. Those things work themselves loose even without significant vibration (i.e. in crane uses).

Bumper Dumper

I couldn't resist... Perfect for discouraging the passenger that has to make a stop every hour or so when travelling.

Rhino step bar

i got a rhino step bar on my truck and im glad i did. i had this girl on an 2000 accord bump into me and the step bar absorbed the impact. it got bent out of shape but it kept my bumper and the paint away from scratches. so it would have been $500+ to paint my rear bumper or more since maybe she would have broken my bumper . it only costed her 140 for a new rhino step bar.

There was a post about taping the end with electrical tape to make it more snug in the receiver. I haven't had any problems with my hitch step rattling so I haven't taped it yet.

Does anyone have the factory rubber(?) cover that came with the 4Runner that they don't want anymore? I have an '03 Sport and someone stole mine. The dealership (or stealership) wants $14.99 for it.

BTW. I have been lurking for about a year but have just now signed up. I will post some pics soon. I just got back from New Mexico and got to do some offroading.
