The factory V6 hitch attaches to the rear cross member, rated for 5000lbs. The factory V8 hitch mounts along the frame rails, rated for 7000lbs, 7200lbs for 2WD--IIRC.

now this confuses me a little, why does the 2WD have a higher rating than 4WD?

Also, I have the V6 so is it better to tow in 4HI or 2HI?

The 2wd has a higher rating because the vehicle itself is lighter....therefor the vehicle can tow more.

When towing always use 2wd.....only use 4wd if stuck.....:D

It is true - virtually every model vehicle out there tows more with 2WD than the same with 4WD because of the weight as brad6841 said. Fro clarification - this does not mean a 4WD vehicle tows more if 2WD is selected. It has to be a 2WD vehicle.

You can buy a Class III aftermarket hitch that is rated 5000/7500 from Quality S. hitches for '03-'08 runners. Cost runs around 130 smackers shipped. I went through Suspension Connection and just installed it on a V6. It bolts onto the frame at three points per side. There is a thread out there already about this particular hitch if you search for it - I plan on adding pictures of the 7-pin adapter relocation shortly to it.
