I was wondering everyone mounts their recovery straps to when pulling/being pulled out?

Especially if you have a strap such as mine with with loops on either end and a car with no "hook" to put the strap on?

I assume most guys use shackles, but where are you mounting these on your 4Runner? I have seen some that go into your trailer hitch, but since I do not have one this is not really an option for me

This has been discussed ad nauseum. Try here: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34361

Shackles are your best bet up front. I have used the factory loops recently and they work fine. Some say don't, I say do.

As for the back, without a receiver you're in a tough place there. If you're the one being pull out then probably best to pull from the rear axle. If you're pulling someone else then...get a receiver. I don't use a shackle in the back but have a hook instead mounted in my receiver.
