toyota doesn't include a ball because the sizes vary. it depends on what you plan on towing.

My truck came with a ball rated at 10,000. : Maybe different region have different incentives. In Hawaii we don't have any toyota rebates , but I rather have the rebates than the ball.

The ball mount that came with our 2003 was apparently female (no balls).

When I tried adding my ball to the supplied toyota receiver ball hitch the hole was way to big to lock down the ball so i just use my own.

I had to do the same. I believe the one Toyota supplied was for a ball with the larger threads. There was some sort of adapter included that was still too big.

Walmart sells a 2" ball with a spacer ring that fits the OEM hitch bracket.

The stock ball mount is for shank size 1.25", which normally comes with ball size 2".

Mine didn't come with a ball and it was kind of a pain to find and I live in Houston--home of the suburban monstertruck and trailer. The 1.25 shank should be used for the stock tongue. The adapter doesn't work and is dangerous, at least that's what the guys at Uhaul told me.

Also, if you have to use another non-stock tongue, be careful. Most are too long because of the spare tire location. You can use it, but you will need to loosen the spare just a bit to get it to fit. I learned that the hardway.

I just cut the drawbar shorter with a cutoff saw.
