If you’re stuck on not a full size vehicle, a properly equipped Tacoma can tow 6500 lbs.
4800 is pushing it for a 4Runner. If you know the route is relatively flat and not a ton of super fast stop/go, you’d be fine. Just be very careful. Make sure you have air bags, trailer brakes, and a weight distributing hitch.
A good brake controller and trailer brakes are key. Stopping would be my biggest concern.
If you have mountains to go through, I’d reallllly second guess the choice.
I did 8000 miles last fall in a packed 4Runner towing a trailer around 1500-2000 packed. Even in that case, it was a dog. I have a lift and heavy tires too, though.
