My 2004 V8 has a sealed transmission, there isn't even a dipstick. I pull a 5900 lb travel trailer, for thousands of miles, no problems. I have never changed the trans fluid and the dealer hasn't recommended it. The trailer does have electric brakes so you might need a brake controller unless you have surge brakes.
The V8 is rated for 7,000 lb. towing capacity, 700 lb. tongue weight. I have an Equalizer WDH which does a nice job of leveling the rig. Equalizer provides specific instructions on how to set up the hitch.
I ordered the towing package with mine. I don't recall if it was standard but I don't think so. The package has the higher amp alternator, transmission cooler, tranny temp light, group 27 HD battery, brake controller connection, integrated 7-pin connector and 2" frame hitch.
I also pull a 17' bass boat but the travel trailer is much heavier. I've pulled to Oregon, Washington DC, gulf states and along the northern border. It pulls quite well.
