Towing Mileage Question

The Wife and I had an 07 Limited a few years ago. She wanted a Prius so the 4Runner had to go. When we needed a second car I opted for the new Chargers when they came out. Love the car except the part where its RWD and life looks like its taking us to Colorado. So after much discussion on what I wanted vs what she was ok with us spending were set on a new 4Runner. Were looking at SR5's with 4x4 no third row. In all of my digging around I cant seem to find the answer to this question. How many miles should I put on it before towing with it. It would be just a U-Haul trailer with our belongings from our sprawling 420sq foot apartment. So its not going to break any records for weight. But I would opt for buying one sooner than later, moving mid July, to have a decent amount of break in mileage on the motor, 500-1000. Any experts care to chime in to help my cause?

The trip would be from Columbus, Ohio to Fort Collins, Colorado. Just a shade under 1300 miles one way.

it is difficult to argue with 500 miles. I would exceed the speed limit as you approach the inclines, and then accept the gearing suggested to you. Lock it in. Do not keep gearing up or down. When you crest the incline, unlock your gearing. Drive your own pace.

Yeah, transmission coolers are suggested.
