I'm renting a 26' trailer Memorial Day week and will be towing it with my '08 Ltd V8 T4R for the first time.
I have the tow package, and the trailer is coming with a weight distribution hitch, etc. But I'm not willing to tow without a brake controller, so I bought this Tekonsha unit, and this wiring adapter specifically for the 4Runner, Sequoia, and Lexus GX/LX.
It hasn't arrived yet, but I was reading up on the towing section of the owner's manual. Page 382 illustrates the connector for the wiring adapter above.
But it also says to "Link the connector to the towing brake controller via the sub wire harness stored in the glove box".
Maybe it will be more obvious when my controller parts arrive. But I'm not sure what the "sub wire harness" is. Bought my rig used, and there was nothing in the glove box when I got it.
Can anyone tell me what this sub wire harness is? All the towing I've done in the past was on an old Pathfinder without any factory tow packages, so I used hard-wired components and never had the convenience of a service connector nicely stored under the dash.
