Towing/Trailer Wiring

I got my hitch installed today. Easy project.
While I was under there I did not look at the wiring. No time.

Anyone ever add a hitch to their 2nd generation? How did the wiring go? Where did you splice in?

Reason I ask; I wired up an F150 years ago, only to discover a few months later that all F150's come ready for towing, with a plug and everything. Just needed to add an extension from the harness up behind the spare tire and you are good to go.
What's the wiring procedure for a 4Runner?

More searching found info on a hidden plug, but no location has been found.

Mine came factory with a hitch and the wiring was easy to spot, i don't know why it would be hard to find. You look under the rear driver side of the truck?

Just an update.
I installed my wiring without a problem. Since my truck did not come with a hitch stock, there is no wiring for a trailer. Needed a 4 to 3 wire converter since 4Runners have separate brake lights and turn signals.
Tapped into the taillight wiring on the drivers side and ran a wire from the passenger side turn signal. The converter from Tractor Supply came with a harness, with a longer wire to reach the right turn signal.
