Towing with my 1995 T4R

Hey all - just wanted to get some feedback on towing with a '95 4runner, V6 - 5sp

My wife and I are moving from MN to ID in a couple weeks and I have been pretty busy getting my runner in shape for the trip - I have given her a full tune-up with NGK plugs and replaced the fuel filter, replace the front cv shafts, wheel bearings and installed aisin locking hubs, and i replaced the rear coil springs with moog aftermarket springs, oil/filter, trans, and rear diff lube change too

all thats left is to wire the trialer lite connection and I'm set!!

I will be towing a fully loaded 6x12 u-haul about 1400 miles over two days and was wondering if anyone here had experience with similar towing situations, i plan on traveling around 60-65 mph max

any feedback/info is appreciated, thanks!

Your speed goal sounds about right. I would keep it out of overdrive and keep a close eye on your temperature gauge. Good luck!

i figured i was good on the speed, and oh yeah definitely keepin an eye on that temp guage!!

i feel the od will be allright on the flats but any uphill travel i'll definitely be downshifting

On my 95, it has the factory tow package. The wires are accessed pretty easily inside the right rear of the cargo area, you can "pop" the plastic wall off and the turn/stop/tail wires are right there. On mine it has a little box with "Toyota" on it, but I suspect it's just a junction box for the trailer wiring. Thought that might help with tracking down the wires can be a headache sometimes. Safe travels, and def keep an eye on the gauges

mine also has the tow package with class 3 hitch and it appears someone wired it previously and left the wires hanging down next to the spare tire

got everything wired and in place, thanks for the good vibes guys!!!
