Our experience started out very strong with this dealership. We liked the salesman and the sales manager and things were moving along nicely. They did a great job of getting us excited about the car but not putting too much pressure on us. They really let the car sell its self.
However, once we got down the the price of the car everything really went down hill. They were very close to the price we wanted and we decided to sleep on it ( again no pressure from them, they were very accomodating). I went in the next day to hopefully get the price a little lower but we found an issue with the math from the night before and the price was going to be $600 more. That really didnt bother me because the numbers were correctly written down just added wrong. I chalked that up to an honest mistake.
I went home to my wife and talked to her about it. We changed some options around and figured we would go back and try to get the price lower with a different set of options. The only option we had on the original truck was leather.
This is were things really got bad. We dealt with a different sales manager than in our previous visits. During the process he told us the price of the leather option on the original truck as not included the Out the Door price we were quoted earlier. Here is why I refused to believe this person:
A). It was the only option installed
B). The original sales manager had gotten the price approved by his boss and was willing to make a deal 2 days before this.
C). We test drove the truck we were going to buy its not like they missed the leather option on paper somewhere.
D). The price included leather on 2.28.06, but didnt include leather on 3.1.06.
All in all we ended up going to Richmond, VA (Most of my family is up there) to find the 4Runner we ultimately bought. Very smooth process up there. Its a different distributor up there and the packages are more to our tastes.
