Toyo RTs worth taking the risk?

I need to get some new tires this week and I still can not decide! I'm looking for 285/70 17 on a daily driver but just about every weekend I'm usually in the forest. I would really like the off road traction of a mud tire but there's no way the family could take the droning noise on road trips. I thought the Toyo RTs would be a good match but I can't find any reviews of their wet weather or snow performance. The few people I did find that had them were on the west coast. Worth taking a chance?

I have them in that exact size with a 3" ToyTec BOSS lift. They are VERY quiet compared to Duratracs and other MT's (I've had Trxus MT's on a jeep). I would say they are as quiet as an AT (I've had BFG AT's and Bridgestone Duelers). I haven't had them in the snow, but the last month has been very rainy in Colorado and they have been great. I say go for it...they cost a pretty penny, but so far I've been happy with them. Its also nice to try something different.

I'm glad to hear that you're happy with their wet handling. Do you have a full size spare? How did the fit go? How did it affect your gas mileage? Are you the only one in Colorado not running Duratracs?

I do not have a full size spare...yet. Still deciding if or which rear bumper I want to run. Fit is good, but I trimmed the bottom part of the front bumper and liner. You can't even really tell...plus I trimmed it as a preventative measure, not because it was rubbing. Hasn't rubbed anywhere...but I also have 1.25" spidertrax spacers, which are perfect. Gas mileage is about what was expected. Maybe a couple miles less per gallon.
Yes, I think I am the only 4runner in CO without Duratracs. I'm eager to test them out in the snow. If they aren't great, Tirerack has Blizzaks in the same size for $150/tire!

That looks nice! I did get a reply from a Jeep in NC and he said that they did fine in the snow (not that NC gets anything close to what you'll get).

Blizzaks are pretty sweet in the snow. Tough to beat them for the price.

That's what I was thinking about doing if they just don't cut it in the snow. I have an extra set of rims.
