Toyota 4Runner 89 but looks like second gen?

Hey guys this is my first post here so hello. All my paper work and stamps in the engine bay say that its a 1989 model but from all the pictures i have seen on the internet it looks like 90+ model? Here are some pictures of it stuck on the beach. Hoping someone can help steer me in the right direction of why my car looks like a second gen but is in the first gen range?

That's a 2nd gen body style, that's for sure; no removable roof. Maybe a late '89 production model? Like an 89.5 or something.

Look on the dor jamb sticker and see month and year when it was built. You can also run the VIN in one of the decoder and it will tell you when and where is was built. If its late 89 it could be a 90. Possibly 09/89 and up. Could be earlier when they changed thou.

yes there are 2 body styles for 89 , the one pictured was late 89

It could have been built in late 89, but it's considered a 90.
