Toyota Backed Certification (Used Purchase)

Hello everyone,
I picked up my 05 SR5 2 weeks ago, when I did the dealer (my brother) had purchased the $500.00 Toyota backed Certification Warranty, which covers every thing the 1st 3 months or 3K; then 7 yrs 100K for drive train and engine. Has any one ever purchased this? And if so was it a pain to use?
By Toyota standards they (dealer) had to put new tires, windshield, and oil, filter and in addition detail it to ensure they met the strict criteria, prior to my picking it up. I will say, with exception to peeling the plastic off the leather it was the next thing to a brand new T4R.
Just wanted to know any one's experience.

Did you mean to imply that your brother works at the dealership, or did I read that wrong? The following is not aimed at your brother or your dealership, but is just based on my own experience...

The local dealerships in my area have been known to try to pass off some sub-par vehicles as certified, including some with obvious prior body damage. Their inspection process is often a joke, too. I think the Toyota Certified concept is pretty good, but I wish Toyota would crack down on unscrupulous dealerships who abuse it. I have even seen some of the local guys offering knock-off "certified" cars, that aren't really Toyota certified.

Did I mention all the Toyota dealerships in my area are owned by the devil?

I bought a Toyota certified Tacoma in 1998 (in a different part of the country). It was essentially new, despite 16k miles on the odo, and I loved it. The certified warranty saved me some $$$ when the transfer case broke a few years later.

yes he is the wholesaler, you would be sick to know what he paid for it...but it worked for me...:biggrin2:

$16.5 as it was a trade to a Dodge dealer, the Toy dealer my brother wholesales for, put $1500 into it new tires, windshield, detail, extended certification. I believe I saw one compatable in a couple of markets around the country for $25K. It was a good deal for me as I has neg equity up the wazzoo and the T4R is an awesome purchase to dump neg equity as the retail is higher than Domestic.
Not sure why I have never bought one before, just un informed I guess..:bash:

Thats a killer deal, i paid the same for a 03 Limited V8 just 2 days ago. Granted it has every option except 4WD, i dont really offroad so that aint a issue to me, i just needed a roomy tow vehicle.
