I removed my bug deflector last night because as I was cleaning up my car from the salty winter, I realized that the damn screws holding it on were rusting and like a cancer it spread to my hood!!!!

I immediately took it off by removing the grill. I sanded down the brackets where the grill attatches and used touch up paint to re-paint the areas. Plus, since the darn thing didn't do much to protect me from chips in the first place, I kinda like it off now.

Yup, I not a huge fan of the bug deflectors or the bras as sometimes they do more harm than good. luckily you caught the cancer early...

You know, the odd thing is that I always check to see if the brackets were rubbing on the hood and etc. In fact, they give you some special tape that you are to put down on the hood underneath the brackets...and it worked great. The problem was with the area underneath the hood. In case you didn't know, to put the brackets that hold the deflector on you need to remove the grill. I found the problem at the area btwn the bracket and bolt. So if you are not anal like I am, you would never have found it. So happy that it is found and off now.
