Hi everyone,
As promised here are not pictures but better yet links to different toyota dealers in Central America so you can see in detail all the line unfortunately not sold in the USA. They are better in real life than they look in pics (we all know that), but still is better than nothing right???

The Fortuner is beautiful and looks tuff like any toyota, of course I go for the Prado without hesitation even over my 4Runner!!:awais:

I hope that not a look at things to come to the US . I thing the Prado & Fortunner are both ugly as hell , look like mall cruisers instead of fun truck type SUV.

If thats what come , I'll have to move on from Toyota.

I don't like the look of the Fortunner, which to me looks like a minivan/car looking SUV and really don't like how the back opens. The Prado, looks OK in the pics, but I still think I like how the 4Runner looks better. It does seem like most SUV are starting to look like minivan/cars hybrids instead of trucks today. I don't like that trend, I am just old school.

Ehhh,I can live without those models;it's Honda that doesn't bring over the good stuff to the US like anything Type R. Only the Integra ever made it over here. Nissan also skimped us on a whole decade of Skylines.

I have to agree the fortuner is a SUV/VAN looking truck. The Prado is a nice looking SUV, kind of Lexus GX470 but after seen few I have to take back even over my 4Runner:bash:

Definetely the runner and land cruiser are the best toyota SUV's:biggrin2:

I have asked people here why they like so much toyota SUV's and the response is always "they are indestructible and hard working off road vehicles."

I was surprised at the small number of sedans and coupes for sale. I thought there would be more, like the Crown or something more similar to the Japanese market.

The reason for this is that the roads are good only in in the big cities but in rural areas are either dirt or gravel. Also they are use on Fincas or ranches.

I think the Prado looks nice but not the Fortunner. It is interesting to see what other countries offer!

Anyone notice that the Costa rica 4Runners have the 3.0lt Turbo Deisel engines as an option? And the Landcruisers also have the deisel options too. And the Landcruiser HT or 78/79 model. Why the hell cant the US get these?
The Fortuna looks like a wagon version of the Hilux (not Hilux Surf). I agree with most, not all that atractive.
And those of you that thought the Prado looks kind of Lexus GX470ish, thats because they are the same thing.
I wonder how the auto makers make their decissions on what to and what not to offer. I bet some off those counties wonder why they dont get the Tacoma or Tundra...

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Sometimes there are good looking Toyotas that don't make it here, like the Austrailian Sportivo (Camry) or Chinese Camry. The new Arius in Europe. Rumor has it that the US Corolla will not look like the European one, which has styling cues like the IS. So other countries might not have good looking trucks, but their car offerings are much better.

I'm a truck guy, but there are times like driving my grandparents around would be more easier in a car than in a SUV or truck and I like to have my car be aesthetically pleasing to the eye as possible (unlike the Echo, and the new Nissan sedans, YUCK!!).

I know I guess Im so fond of 3rd & 4th gen 4R's that I would hate to see them wimp them out. IMO all the one's in the pics ....suck as far as looks , except the LC.

I know how you feel. I wasn't too fond of the 4th gen when it first came out, eventually I got use to it and now I like it a lot. The 3rd gen was a hit IMO, loved everything Toyota did going from the 2nd gen (which I also like too). I liked the 3rd gen a lot, especially the earlier ones with chrome bumpers and prior to the foglight option. I hope the 4R doesn't go the way of the Pathfinder and Explorer, and become a soft-roader.

I'm with you there ! I just hate the rounded bubble look the the Lexus has , ( not the GX ) the other rounded bubble version , mall hopper.

That rounded bubble look takes away from the tough truck look IMO . Then its starts to look like one of the crossover vehicles.
