Linfone said:Nice, but you should have driven the 09 Forester XT. That thing puts out 220+ hp AND ft*lbs. Someone in one of the Subaru forums has 800 awhp....
Furthermore, the Subaru flat-6 3.6l in the Tribeca has 247 ft*lbs...
oh yeah, the 2GR-FE pumps out 270hp and 248tq... take that subie fanboy!
..just busting chops, that is all!
the nitro has 260hp and 265 tq
the nitro squeezes out a little more oomph with a compression ratio of 10.2 vs the 4R's 10.0. It also needs to spin a little higher to hit peak hp.
bottom line, these motors are all within close range of each other, reliability is the key... search for a 4th gen V6 engine problem thread.. you wont find one.
With respect to HP, I think Toyota has been upping the ante lately. The GR line is very competitive. I remember Koz and Thai chatting amicably (lol) about the new 305 hp Lexus IS.. the 3-series killer. :bash:
If you want to talk about underperforming, then the 4.7L V8 puts out a less hp/liter than the 5.7 and the 5.7 gets better mileage... it all comes down to the manufacturer with the new engine.
Each generation gets more powerful and efficient. For engines that have been around the block though, the UZ and GR are rock solid.
