[SIZE="4"]A few years ago, I had the dealership do a “top end” clean on my rig. I happened to walk around the corner of the building where they had it parked and they had a bar between the steering wheel and accelerator pedal to hold the running engine at a high idle. I can’t remember exactly but I think it was 1,800-2,500 RPM.
The hood was popped and there was a bottle hanging there with a SeaFoam colored liquid in it. It was connected to a tube that has a small “filter” on it. The filter and tube side was removed and they had the SeaFoam dripping in the tube going to the manifold. (See attached photo of the line I am talking about). I do remember the whole ordeal took about 30 minutes and the rig did run much better after.
I tried to re-create the “drip bottle” this weekend and used the same line the dealer did. However, the SeaFoam dispensed much quicker than I remember from the dealer. The engine sputtered and I ran it at high RPM’s for about 20 minutes. There seemed to be MUCH MORE smoke than when I have done this in the past through the PCV hose. The rig does run better. Only thing, with the SeaFoam going in so fast (faster than the dealer) the engine hesitated until I got the RPM’s up. Also, there were 6 error codes (all for cylinder misfires). I cleared all the codes and all is well. Just thought I would share this with everyone…..
