Toyota exterior Sunroof Wind Deflector

I put the factory windshield on the outside of the roof and it is making triple the noise as I had before installing it. The screws are really deep cut phillips head type and possibly the wind is making noise from the screws?

Anyone else have this problem? How did you solve it? I'm gonna go get some more screws in the next fews days and re-install it. Maybe flat head type instead of phillips. I had the AVS deflector on another vehicle and it worked perfectly and really cut the noise down.

Is this one just shaped wrong... or?

I don't know the answer to your questions. My 96 4R has a pop up wind deflector and it is quiet when open. I have seen the roof mounted wind deflector on other 4Rs and wonder why some have them and some don't. Is that an aftermarket part, does anyone know?

I finally figured out...I think? I tightened it up some more. It seems too tight but it isn't---the clip has to be tight enough that it touches the deflector so it can't move at all. Put a rubber washer between the clip and deflector. I used one that matched the hole opening in the deflector so the screw set in it.

I think the noise was from a lil' movement and the metal clip moving up & down on the grooves of the screws. I also laid a layer of that 3M clear bra stuff over the paint and trimmed it perfectly so none of my paint would touch the deflector and get scratched. It is better, but still louder than my Armada was with the AVS deflector.

I now have a fixation with that 3M clear bra tape stuff. I bought a role off eBay for $8 shipped and I put it on the mirrors, the grille area and the door edges. I then moved to my wife's Prius and went crazy on it...that stuff is AMAZING!!! You can't see it but it protects the paint and is a nice thick layer of clear protection. Get some and don't blame me if you become addicted and put it everywhere like I did.
