Toyota Factory rebate strategy

Hello,

I'm a new member planning on picking up a 4runner in the near term. Does anybody have any insight on how Toyota uses their factory rebate? I am assuming it keeps going up until all the present year models are cleared out for next years models. Right now its at $2,000 but I've serached the site and seen people have received rebates up to $3,500 around this time of year. Will the rebate go higher say next month for 2006's or is $2,000 probably the cap this year. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The rebate amount is based on which region you're in. The rebate may go higher depending on market factors and the type of vehicles consumers are seeking. Toyota usually change rebates each month (so it may go up, down or stay the same). If you can find a good sales rep, they usually know a few days before the month is over what the upcoming rebate will be. My rep has sometimes asked buyers to postpone their purchase until next month and said there's only been one time where the rebate has gone down the following month.

Last year, V8's had a $3000 rebate due to higher gas prices (Hurricane Katrina). Even the '06s had a rebate, $750 in my area at the end of the year. If I recall, since January until August, the rebate has been $1500. I think it just got upped to $2k for September.
