Toyota Frame Checks on 01-04

I just got notified via mail that Toyota is doing frame checks on 01-04 Sequoias looking for rust damage due to the road salt in cold climates. Does that mean they are doing this for 4-runners now as well? Luckily my sequoia has only seen snow twice so I am not worried.

The Tundra, and Tacoma that had frame recalls were all built in the USA, and had frames that were made by outside supplier Dana Corp. The Sequoia is also built in the USA, and it's frame is made by Dana Corp. too. Hence the inspection.


However, 4Runners and the parts they are comprised of, have always been made in Japan by Toyota or it's subsidiaries. So I doubt we'll ever see a recall on their frames.

Hell no. They told me they'd never seen anything like that (frame rot). I believe they're much more concerned with their priuss' (don't know what the plural form of prius is). For us less fortunate folks, we have to do some welding. It's a simple fact in the great salt plains, there will be rust. Snow is fine, salt and bad roads are not. Can't wait to go back to CO-
