Llumar is the best... Go with the IRX. I have it all the way around, plus the Air 80 on the windshield. Air Clear Window Tint Series | LLumar
Remeber to put at least 50 IRX on your moonroof... a ton of heat comes in there.

What levels did you get? I was planning on CTX 30 in the front and 40 on the whole rear. I don’t want it do be too dark in the rear.

If you like a clean car, then you want to look at a ceramic coating like opti-coat. The next rain will actually wash your car and getting heavy crud or bird droppings off is a breeze.
Freshly waxed and ready for some new adventures (after the next rain though... it’s too clean to get dirty today, lol)!!

That, and a PPF (paint protection film) for the front and other vulnerable areas.

Yeah, I’m planning on saving up for it. I can’t afford it right now, but it desperately needed a deep wash and wax after sitting on a hot SC lot for 5+ months.
How much did your ceramic set you back?

I have 15% on the front windows, 30% on the rear windows (due to factory privacy glass) so that they match the front, and the Air 80 is absolutely clear. I love the Air 80... I was skeptical at first, but having had it for a while now, I'd always have it... it's that good.
And the moonroof I have 50%. Makes a HUGE difference in heat rejection.
Lastly, make sure your tinting professional is very good... that they've been in business a long time... someone you know will be in business years from now.
Don't look for the least expensive deal, rather look for the highest quality deal at the best price.

About $500 if I recall correctly...
That included all windows, windshield and moonroof.
Windshield is clear, Air 80 by Llumar
Front is 15%
Rear is 30% to match front (because of factory privacy glass)
Moonroof is 50%

I went the opposite direction, and I took my 4runner out with the temporary licence plates the first saturday I had it, and I ran all of the trails that my old half-ton couldn't do. Once that mess of scratches was in place, there wasn't much left to worry about. I give it some Zaino twice a year to keep the pinstripes to a minimum, but it's nice to have that field of scratches in place so I don't have to be a prude on the trails.
This thread was a good read. I really like how you handled everything, including the peanut gallery. And its great that you're thrilled with your new 4runner -- as it should be. My beast rides like a dream, especially when I'm going faster than the company that I keep. Everyone deserves that feeling in a 4runner.

Hard to say because I know the guy and got a package price. On my wagon, ceramic tint, PPF and Opti-Coat was about $1400.
PPF on the whole front (up about 1/3 of the hood and the same areas on the front fenders, front bumper, headlights, fog lights, door handle cups, wheel arches, rear bumper, tail lights.
60% ceramic tint including moon roof.
Full Opti-Coat including windows.

Agreed on a ceramic coating. I got the CQ Quartz and love it. It is expensive but to me it was well worth the dollar.
I got 3m 30 ceramic tint on the front windows and it really cuts the heat transfer. I should get the ceramic on the moon roof too. I also got 3m clear bra to prevent stone chips and recommend that as well.
I have the ORP /KDSS and would love to know the difference to what you have. Compared to my 2011 SR5 it’s really smooth!

It is perfect for me since I didn’t want it too dark so we wouldn’t have trouble seeing at night. My husband’s night vision is not the best so I took that into consideration.
From the outside, you can still see through the back only depending on what angle you are viewing the car at.
Today, it’s 96 degrees here and I could tell an immediate difference in the interior temp and could see the radio display much better.
It is perfect (for me)!

Did you have them do your moon roof or get the clear (Air 80) on the windshield? ...just curious.... because... the difference you feel in heat rejection, while substantial, will noticeably improve with treatment of those two areas.

Thanks! I did not do the windshield for two reasons. Money and there’s so much road construction on I-85 right now I had 2 chips and a crack in my last windshield so I don’t want to waste my money right now.
The sunroof did not get completed bc the guy who is 3rd party tinted for the dealership does not want to tint sunroofs. There is another 3rd party place that installs Llumar. I will stop by there and see if they will do the sunroof.

I got Llumar 50% on the moon roof. It makes a huge difference... I can actually leave the sun shade open, most of the time now.
