toyota key

does anybody know if you can use a new toyota key with a 4th gen 4runner that has the old key setup. ex: old key- key and remote. new key-key with remote built in) like the 5th gen 4runners.

To my knowledge the key itself can, but the remote can not. The FCC ID #s differ between the two remotes.
I was hoping the FJCruiser/Landcruiser all in on key (I like it better than the 5thGen and Camry key IMO) would work, but it's FCC ID# is different too.
