Damn, almost 13 seconds to hit 62 mph? Seems kinda slow to me. I'm guessing fuel economy would be pretty good though. Wish Toyota would throw that 6 speed behind our 4.0's though. I'm not really digging the overall look either.

At the end of the article, it is written that it is also available with a 4.0 V8 in front of a 6 speed auto. I'm guessing that is a typo and was supposed to read 4.0 V6. So yeah, why can't they go ahead and get that transmission to the US market.

True, when it is mated to the new 3.5 liter engine - at least according to guys here that are "in the know." Just thought it odd that they could easily fix alot of the griping about the 5 speed and gain a slight increase in mpg by putting the new 6 speed on the current 4.0 V6 as they have done with the Prado. I assume they are made in the same Tahara plant?

But anyway, back on topic: I don't think Toyota will have the same issues as VW as their system will be urea based, whereas VW's was software driven.

I'm curious how off the emissions controls are from US specs. It does sound like these new GD engines might fall inline with US requirements very easily.
