Toyota navigation disc versions

Does anyone know what the newest version disc I could use is on a e7019 Toyota navigation unit ? The guy selling it says he used a version 6.1 disc, but I figure if I need to buy a new disc anyway why not buy the newest I can. I have seen some version 8.1 discs on eBay, can I use one of those?
Thanks in advance,

Yes I meant e7019. Does any one know if 6.1 and 8.1 are interchangeable on any systems (I would assume if they are on one then they are on all)

I have this same unit (which I am probably going to sell this week by the way if anybody is interested) and it came stock with version 6.1 and that is what I'm using and it works well. The unit was manufactured in late 2007 and the copyright date on the disc is 2007. I am assuming that the 2009 version of the E7019 uses a newer version of the software (probably 8.1). I don't think it would hurt to try.... just save your old disc in case you need to go back.

So it turns out that there are different versions of the 6.1, 7.1, 8.1, and 9.1. What we have too look for to tell us whether it works with what generation is the number that is something like U32 on it. I bought a U32 disc (version 7.1) I hope it is the right one. If you have a chance can you see what your number is? I think yours would be U31 for a 6.1 disc.
I dont have any disc right now so there is no going back to an old disc.
Thanks,
Ben

I'll power it up and take a look. I had it installed in my car for about an hour today to see if I liked it, but I took it out because I had to go pick my son up at school.

I have a 9.1 generation 5 disc here that I picked up because I wasn't sure when I bought this if it came with a disc. The seller didn't respond to me when I asked if there was a disc so I figured it was better to be safe than sorry. The 6.1 seemed to work well. It picked up my house immediately and seemed easy to navigate. I just had to go and change the section of the country I was in.

Interesting. I didn't know this was a multi-year model. That seems pretty rare with factory stereos. The one thing I like about this model is that you can select the orange/amber color which matches nice with the display on my 4Runner. I didn't know you could and I was going through the menus and it lets you choose green or orange. Pretty cool.

Does anybody have a manual or know of an online source for one so I can figure out if I like this thing and want to keep it? I am just not real good at figuring out how to find addresses and stuff and maybe I'm better suited to a TomTom or something that is designed for the behind the times never used a GPS user like myself.

Not trying to get off-topic. Just figured since we were talking E7019 then this was a good place to ask.

not off topic at all, doesn't seem like too
many people know too much abou this model so te more we talk about it the more we should all learn right?

So assuming the hardware stayed the same, then we can assume that 7.1, 8.1, and 9.1 should all work fine? Is it considered a fifth gen unit, or did they use the same model number for different variations and generations of a similar unit? I am guessing my 2007 E7019 is the same as a 2009 or 2010 model with the only difference being that they've got a newer disc in them.

If anybody has access to a newer one then check the map dvd out and see what number it is. I am assuming somebody here works at a dealership and can do us a solid by going out and ejecting the disc and giving it a looksee. :)
