Toyota Part Number for Rear Shock Centering Washer??

Hi all,

I'm usually pretty good with finding OEM part numbers, but this one has me stumped. I need the part number for the centering washers for the rear shocks. The ones that have the little raised lip that sits in the frame. I've had a terrible squeak from my driver side rear shock lately. I just took it apart and found out that the centering washer has been worn through in one spot, presumably because I am running LC shocks in the rear.

I couldn't find the part number anywhere, so I ordered a cheap shock from advance auto, assuming it would come with the washer. Nope... Now I need to return that also.

I'm sure I could get one from a junkyard, but I'd like a new corrosion free washer.

If anyone can help me out with this that would be great!

It sounds to me like you need more than just a washer. The stock setup is a metal- washer-rubber cushion-frame-metal washer-rubber cushion-metal washer sandwich. Going from top to bottom:

RETAINER, CUSHION, NO.2(FOR REAR SHOCK ABSORBER)
90948-02131

CUSHION, REAR SHOCK ABSORBER, NO.1
90948-01003

RETAINER, CUSHION, NO.1(FOR REAR SHOCK ABSORBER)
90948-02119

FRAME GOES HERE

CUSHION, REAR SHOCK ABSORBER, NO.2
90948-01045

RETAINER, CUSHION, NO.2(FOR REAR SHOCK ABSORBER)
90948-02131

If you do have all that, then I think the one you need to replace is:

RETAINER, CUSHION, NO.1(FOR REAR SHOCK ABSORBER)
90948-02119

That should be the only part I need. I'm running Land Cruiser shocks in the rear so I've got LC bushings, and I'm using grade 8 fender washers on the outside ends of the bushings because the 3rd gen washers are too small for the LC bushings, and the LC washers are $10 each...

Just to clarify though, the centering washer, 90948-02119 goes on the bottom side of the mount right? So that lip sticks up into the mount, and the bushing goes underneath. Like this

Yes, it comes directly beneath the frame mount with the cushion retainer's lip going inside the hole of the frame mount.

Hey there, so is 90948-02119 the OEM 3rd Gen 4runner retaining washer and was it large enough to cover the bigger bushing of the LC shock?

No, the 4Runner cushion retainer is small compared to the LC80 shock bushing

The Tundra centering washer's flare is too large for the hole in the 4runner rear top shock mount pocket.

If the 4runner centering washer is too small for the tundra cushion then I will make a SS (or nylon) sleeve to go over the Tundra shock stud to act as an isolator. I'll measure the collapsed cushion stack to make sure the sleeve doesn't inhibit compression or movement

Unless there is a more elegant, factory-style solution

However, within ~15k miles, the little lip in that washer that fits nicely into the drilled out frame wears flat. At least that has been my experience.

No, the drilling results in a perfect fit for the landcruiser washer. The only thing I could've done incorrectly is perhaps too little compression of the bushings, allowing the washer to get out of position.

I'm going to leave the hole in the frame as is and sleeve the stock stud forgoing the centering washer entirely.

When I did my rear suspension I took off the freedom offroad shocks and found no centering washer with very clapped bushings. Hole wasn't wallowed out though. While taking things apart I saw the centering washers that are on the sway bar end links and mistakenly thought those were the ones for the shocks since the front end links didn't have one of those. Ended up using them and so far I think they are actually working fine. Ended up swapping my front end links onto the rear when I ditched the front sway and put some ES bushings on there so no issues there as far as I know.
