Toyota Service Dept

So, I went to the service dept the other day at the dealership where I bought my truck to go over some issues with my 4Runner: headlight haze on the inside, IPOD issues, the tranny lag with the TSB to reflash it and the lumbar support having a crunching feeling on the driver side. I made an appt and left it for the day, 630am to 4pm when I got the call it was done. When I showed up to sign my truck out I looked at the paper that says what was done, nothing. Stated the IPOD worhed fine, no tranny issue, lumbar crunching non-existent and the headlight problem was not even addressed. I had the service manager come talk to me and had to go over every problem again. Gave him the TSB number AGAIN which he looked up AGAIN and said 'oh, yeah, we just have to erase the computer and it will be fine". Told him about the ERROR messages on the display sometimes when I play the IPOD and he said "oh, I will have to order a new stereo to fix that". Showed him the lumbar issue and he said "oh, we will have to take the seat apart to inspect it". I didnt even realize they didnt even look at the headlights till today. Is it always this hard to have your rig worked on? I only have 14K on it and this is my first 'service' experience with Toyota. Always took my Tacoma to other places when I had it. So now I ahve to make another appt when the stereo comes in and probably a few more to pull the seat and the headlights. Weak. Disappointed.

Go talk to the dealer's general manager and explain what happened. You should never be lied to or have to deal with someone faking inspections and service.

Ask the general manager how can you trust their service next time? How can you trust them when it comes time for an oil change not to just claim to have done it.

Is the headlight haze issue common? I noticed it on a used TE that was at a dealership, probably because I'm picky that it stood out to me :)

After my second visit to the dealership since they didnt do anything the firest time with any of my complaints I got results. They di the TSB for the tranny lag and what a difference. I cant believe I was driving for 15K miles with the lag in place. It now drives the way it should of always, very responsive in my opinion. The replaced the entire seatback on the driverside where the lumbar was 'crunching'. Works great now, hopefully holds up. Time will tell. The also replaced my stereo due the the intermintent ERROR 3 or ERROR 5 message when playing IPOD. They states it was due to a short. Well, the new stereo lasted 1 day before starting to do it again. Guess maybe its my IPOD and not necessarly the unit. Lastly the headlight, no fix there. I posted in 'POSSIBLE HEADLIGHT DEFECT'. to update on there.

That's great to hear! I may look into getting mine re-flashed as well. I had that error 5 message too. Just unplugged my IPod- truck was running if that matters- and turned it back on and it was fine. Hopefully it won't come back!

The error messages seem to be totally random, I ve tried various combo's of things to get it to do it, or not do it, on a regular basis with no success. Seems to happen when its left plugged in and I first start the truck. I have to unplug, turn off truck, start truck and then replug in to fix it. Doesnt seem to matter if the stereo is on or off when turning off the truck and it doesnt happen every time. Maybe every 4 or 5 times. Wierd for sure.
